It looks like it is open as it is here, but when you walk or cycle past it it looks deserted and empty and I don't understand why it says it is open here? Chairs tables within list is empty?

We had reserved a table for 4 by the window for August 12, but upon arrival it turned out to be closed due to circumstances. We haven't even been cancelled. We were not happy with that. In another restaurant where we went and luckily we were able to go, we heard that they were having payment problems. I wouldn't be surprised if they go bankrupt. Apparently they don't treat customers well. De Beren is done for me. Very bad!
Not very good unfortunately. There were four of us, one of whom had a delicious meal. The starters were good. Orange juice was tasty, but at one time we could no longer get the juice out of the glass from the pulp and seeds. Making the gravy was also very disturbing. A lot of noise next to your ears, making it no longer possible to have a conversation. Tip Take a good hand press. When clearing the food, people were not asked whether they had enjoyed it and therefore people could not respond. The Sea Bass was recommended as a fish specialty? Well, that's still up for debate. You should bake them on the skin, not steam them. The Dots Beef Tenderloin was tenderloin in soup and very sweet. The shrimp was made a little spicier in the same soup. The Chateaubriand and the advance platter were good, therefore 2 stars. The fries that were served with it were tough. All in all a disappointment.
After entering we waited at least 5 minutes before someone came next to us. The manager gave his staff a lot of punishment in front of us. We were then sent to a table for 2 people even though we had reserved for 4. Then we were dumped in the back somewhere. When no one had come to us for a drink after fifteen minutes, a whole staff in the kitchen really irritated me with the way they talked to each other, we decided to leave and then had a delicious meal at IJzer. So big minus points for the bears. My first and last time with the bears unfortunately
We had dinner with a number of people at the Beren. I first asked if the table could be cleaned. That was immediately forgotten. The starters were fine. The bread and the cheese and ham. The tournedos was tasty, as was the chicken satay, pork tenderloin and spare ribs. The crispy and spicy chicken pieces were neither crispy nor really spicy, although the latter is of course very personal. The taste was good. For the desserts, 2 iced coffees were ordered, a Dame Blanche and an apple crumble. Everything was fine except the iced coffees. They were really very watery and had little taste. When we mentioned this to the waiter, she said she would pass it on. We received no further response. Indicated again at checkout, but apart from an apology, nothing further was done. I thought that was a shame.
What was also a shame was that we were told several times that dishes and/or drinks had run out. And what I found disturbing was the employee who was quite loud in saying that he had 'been drinking wine all holiday'. All in all, not a place for me to go again very soon.
I have had better experiences in several other restaurants in this chain.
Cozy restaurant, delicious food. Prices have gone up considerably and portions have become smaller.
Arrived at 6 p.m., indicated that our movie would start at 8 p.m., restaurant half full.
The manager indicated that it would work out fine. After 45 minutes we got our starter. After 90 minutes still no sight of the main course and we decided to go. There's little point in eating our burgers in a race against the clock.
Manager upset! “Your citizens are resting”! 😂 So we had to trust that a main course + dessert was feasible within 20 minutes, while in the 90 minutes before only a cup of soup was possible.
The manager walked away angrily and let his young employee (who was very neat by the way) handle it.
The nachos in the cinema were delicious…
